Quests Prologue

Choose Language: English Greek French Portoguese Dutch Finnish

Arakas represents the "lesser" half of the Kingdom of Goldmoon (which is ruled from Raven's Dust, the "greater" half of the kingdom where the king resides). There are two cities on Arakas: Lighthaven (where the players start) and Windhowl (which is further south west from Lighthaven). Under the temple of Artherk (a good god in the world of Althea), a 4-level dungeon helps newcomers test their mettle against increasingly difficult monster (the last one being the demon Balork, which can be killed over and over again because he reincarnates after a little while). Depending on early choices (whether they kill Balork or become friends with him), player characters embark on the path to Good or Evil. The Good Quest starts when the character kills Balork. He is "branded" by evil and must seek aid to remove the curse. This will lead him on a quest to find a cure, which will end to a mage that will teleport him to Raven's Dust. The Evil Quest starts when the character gets involved with the shadier side of Arakas (Kalastor, Asarr and the like), and delves deeper into the underworld. He is eventually asked to find someone (Shadeen), a master thief who has vanished some time ago and was last seen on Raven's Dust.

Raven's Dust further introduces the characters to the background and story behind T4C. This island is the "greater" half of the Kingdom of Goldmoon, ruled by a lazy king, Theodore XIII, who does not seem to mind that dark events are brewing over the horizon. The plot thickens as characters learn about orders of light and darkness fighting each other, about names such as Makrsh P'Tangh, the Oracle and Elvenweave, about old races that have risen and fallen, and so forth. Now that the characters have spent a whole island (Arakas) learning the ropes of the game, the difficulty level of the game moves up a notch and challenges them further. The Good Quest starts with Princess Delilah, who could remove Balork's Brand, but is too concerned with Bishop Crowbanner's health to do anything but pray. The heroes must therefore find a special herb to cure him, and in doing so formally commit themselves to the Good Cause. Once Crowbanner is healed, the curse is lifted, but the hero is told to consult the Oracle to learn more about his fate. The Evil Quest starts around Shadeen, who gives increasingly difficult missions to the villainous character until she trusts him to reveal a few secrets. In the end, however, the player will suspect foul play on her part and ally himself with evil Monsignore Damien in order to assassinate Shadeen. Once that is done, the villain will be given access to Stoneheim.

Stoneheim is the last island of the basic game (not counting add-ons). The main human settlement is Stonecrest, which is flanked by a paladin's church and an anti-paladin's keep. There is also a centaur town and two Skraug clans (the Moon Tug and the Kahp Leth) who are at war with each other. In the center of the island, a hard-to-access zone leads to the Oracle and his assistants, who are there to "promote" powerful player characters into superior beings once they have met certain requirements. Going through this island requires that both Good and Evil characters complete a high number of "go-fetch" incremental (pyramidal) quests, along with a few specific storyline-related data-gathering missions on each side. More is revealed about the fate of the Seraphs, the Elves and the Dwarves, and on the Three Comings from the past and the Fourth Coming. A final confrontation with Makrsh P'Tangh brings the story to a partial conclusion.

In this new adventure (Add-on), you'll meet with a powerful necromancer, Olin Haad, who invades the land of Arakas. You'll have to try to find out more about the true nature of this dark mage, his role in the Battle of Emanations, his friendship with dragons and the due balance between good and evil. This episode will introduce the players to spiritual quests, enabling them to discover new NPC's such as warriors, bowmen and mages who once fought with or against Olin Haad. Each encounter and quest will reveal a little more about Olin Haad's real identity and discover his role and the one played by the dragons in the battle of Emanations. A secret clan and a Dragon will lead the players to learn what really happened at the Battle of Emanations and the true origin of the Haad family. Friendship, battles and betrayals are the main ingredients to which the players will be exposed in this add-on.
