If you use the gem, you get strength, agility, wisdom and intelligence bonus.

To have access to the various bonus you must equip the Drachensword or the Drachenstaff.

The more Gem of the Moon you have, the bigger the bonus is and the longer it takes.

If you have 20 Gem of the Moon and you use one, then you get the following bonus:
+ 100 strength (Drachensword)
+ 100 agility (Drachensword)
+ 100 wisdom (Drachenstaff)
+ 100 intelligence (Drachenstaff)
